Burnout Impressions

When You're Simply Burnt Out

In our world it's truly common to come to a point in the day to day where you simply don't want to go on. You feel that if you have to do that one thing, one more time, you're going to snap. Whatever it may be, there's often that one thing. Fill in the blank.
The first step to overcoming this is realizing that you're not at all the only one going through this. Everyone, yes, everyone struggles with this. It's no real secret that our culture is not set up for adventure, it's set up to be a smoothly operating commercial machine. But look around you. You'll see it on the faces of nearly everyone you work with or see day to day.

People get stuck. And after you're stuck for a while, you believe that life will never be any different. This is burnout syndrome. And it will easily lead to deep depression.

The fact is, you simply need to change it up a bit. A change in work or career doesn't usually cut it, you'll experience the same mundane burnout wherever you work. That's just a part of it.

But the real question is, "Who are you in the midst of all that you do?" Are you simply an automaton, programmed and on auto-pilot all day? Or are you an individual, who seeks out fun and excitement in every situation? It really is a matter of perspective.

You could be passing adventure, way outside your box, day in and day out. Our tendencies are to close up, and not look people in the eye. We give in to the depression.

Start by looking up. Look people in the eye. See what they need and who they are. Start by saying "Hi!" One of the best ways out of burnout syndrome, is to look around you, and help someone else out of their own feelings of being burnt out.
